What is Acomplia?
This medication is used for the management of obesity to include weight loss and weight maintenance. It works by blocking endogenous cannabinoid binding to neuronal CB1 receptors. Activation of these receptors by endoegenous cannabinoids, such as anadamide, increases appetite. It is the most advanced endocannabinoid receptor antagonist in clinical development and offers a novel therapeutic approach to appetite control and weight reduction.

The drug also has potential as a treatment for smoking cessation because the endocannabinoid system is involved in the body's response to tobacco dependence.

How To Take This Medication
Acomplia® (Rimonabant) should be taken once daily in the morning before breakfast (always follow your doctors instructions. If you forget to take Acomplia® you should take it as soon as you remember but do not take a double dose to make up for any forgotten dose. If you take more Acomplia® than you should tell a doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Side Effects
The most common side effects with Acomplia® are nausea and upper respiratory tract infection. Less frequently patients have reported upset stomach, vomiting, trouble sleeping, nervousness, depression, irritability, dizziness, diarrhea, anxiety, itching, excessive sweating, muscle cramps, fatigue, bruising, tendon pain and inflammation (tendonitis), memory loss, back pain, altered sensitivity of the hands and feet, hot flush, fall, influenza and joint strain. Rarely patients have reported sleepiness, night sweats, panic symptoms, hiccups, anger, restlessness (dysphoria), emotional disorders and hallucinations. Precautions
